M. A. (Al) Rogers

Dr. M. A. (Al) Rogers is currently a Master Project Analyst in the Upstream Business Area at Independent Project Analysis in Ashburn, Virginia. He joined IPA seven years ago when IPA was planning to extend their analytical capabilities from a facilities view to include the subsurface (reservoir and drilling) components of upstream oil and gas developments. Al was instrumental in developing these approaches, algorithms and content that are now integrated into IPA’s Upstream Project Evaluation System. He is currently involved in the development and presentation of IPA training materials on project analysis and other subjects to both internal and external audiences.

Dr. Rogers has over 25 years of broad industry experience in a variety of exploration and production positions—both domestic and foreign. He worked for Exxon and a small independent company in a number of operations and research assignments. At Exxon Production Research Company, he was manager of the Reservoir Evaluation Division and was involved in the development of reservoir characterization, description and mapping techniques for use in production department models, and numerical simulators.

He has extensive instructional and training experience and has developed and presented courses worldwide. In a previous position as General Manager, Technology Transfer for IHRDC (a training and publishing company), he was responsible for the technical content and coordination of manuals and videos on geology, geophysics, drilling and engineering. He also assisted with technical development and quality control of instructional programs.

Al Rogers received his Ph.D. in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Minnesota and has published numerous papers and technical articles.
