José Miguel Bolivar
Business Development Manager, IPA Latin America
José Miguel is the Business Development Manager for Independent Project Analysis (IPA) Latin America, located in Curitiba, Brazil. José Miguel is an instructor for the IPA Institute and has led a number of workshops, capital system reengineering studies, and courses for numerous companies operating in Latin America. Over the last few years, José Miguel has taught the Institute’s courses on Project Management, Exploration & Production, Front-End Loading, Contracting, and Megaprojects.
 
José Miguel worked in the IPA headquarters based in Virginia, USA, between October 2001 and September 2007. He was a Senior Project Analyst specializing in capital systems, organizational effectiveness, and risk assessment of megaprojects in the petroleum and mining sectors. José Miguel is also the IPA client coordinator for several major petroleum, mining, and metal companies in Latin America including Petrobras E&P, and VALE among others, and has been involved in the evaluation and benchmarking of more than 100 capital projects from various industry sectors worldwide.
 
Before joining IPA, José Miguel spent 13 years with Procter & Gamble in Venezuela and Brazil. He was based at the company’s Latin America Product Development Department in Caracas, where he held various management positions in technical services, quality assurance, and package development. In his later years at Procter & Gamble, José Miguel served as Regional Technical Buying Services Leader, working in the development and technical approval of raw material suppliers for a variety of home and health care products.
 
In 1987, José Miguel earned a Bachelors degree in Biochemistry from Oxford University, United Kingdom.
